Debbie Graham
Debbie Graham was re-elected to her fourth term as Vice-President for the Newfoundland/Labrador and New Brunswick region at the 2005 UNDE Triennial Convention and represents the UNDE members employed at DND facilities in St. John’s, Gander, Goose Bay, NL and Gagetown, NB (includes PEI).
As a UNDE National Officer since 1996, Debbie has held portfolios that include AIRCOM LMRC rep Atlantic, OPI for Human Rights and member of the New Brunswick Joint Career Transition Committee. She has been and continues as Chair of our Union’s Standing Bylaws Committee, Co-Chair of LFAA LMRC and member of the Newfoundland/Labrador Joint Career Transition Committee.
Debbie was also re-elected as PSAC Alternate Regional Executive Vice-President for the Atlantic in June 2005 and served as the New Brunswick Director on the Atlantic Regional Council (1998 – 2005) with various responsibilities including Finance, Political Action, Women’s Committee, Education and Communication.
As a strong union activist, Debbie has walked many picket lines serving in various positions (picketer, picket captain, strike captain, area strike coordinator) through the PSAC strikes of 1980, 1991, 1999, 2001 and 2004 as well as walking with and/or supporting other Union strikes including Bell Canada, Aliant, CUPE and NAPE to name a few. She was also active in the Pay Equity Campaign, developing and undertaking various political activities while in Goose Bay including occupying MP Lawrence O’Brien’s (MP Labrador) office in 1996. Debbie has also been extremely active in the Women’s Movement and has been involved in the various Women’s Marches that have taken place over the last four years as well as attending the various PSAC Women’s Conferences both regional and national.
Debbie has been a proud Table 1 member for 30+ years...her experience spans three Components (UNDE, GSU, Env) in four different provinces (ON, AB, NL and NB). She actively supports equity rights and has worked hard to help move those rights forward both within the workplace and within our union. She continues to work toward maintaining and defending membership rights, union principles, public services and social justice.
