Resolutions

Important information when submitting resolutions for convention:

  1. Each resolution must have two original signatures--the local president and the secretary.
  2. The WHEREAS of the resolution should explain the reason and justification of the resolution itself. There may be a number of reasons for WHEREAS. Each one should be valid, to the point, and clearly defined. The BE IT RESOLVED THAT portion of the resolution is the change, addition, or deletion to the union's policy or bylaw, that the local wishes the Convention to approve.
  3. The number of the Local submitting the resolution should be on each resolution.
  4. Resolutions which are considered to be bargaining demands are not acceptable and will be returned to the submitting local.
  5. Each resolution should be submitted on a separate sheet of paper and locals should number their resolutions correctly.
  6. Each resolution should deal with one subject and contain not more than one hundred and fifty (150) words.
  7. Resolutions can be sent by mail: 116 Albert St., Suite 700 Ottawa, ON K1P 5G3 or by fax: (613) 594-8233
  8. No originals are required to be mailed when the resolutions are faxed, provided they are clear.
