EMPLOYMENT EQUITY REPORT 1 CAD/UNDE LMRC 22 May 02
1. Further to the EE report that was provided at the 21 Nov 01 LMRC, much activity has taken place to complete an Air Force 3-year employment equity plan and an employment equity report for 2001.
2. In February, a workshop for the HRBMs, W Admin Os and union representatives was held in Ottawa. The aim of this workshop was to explain the legislated requirement for an effective Employment Equity plan and to create a first-draft of the Air Force plan. The information provided at the workshop enabled the Wing representatives to create local plans, with input from local unions, Advisory Groups and CHRO staff, based on the overall draft plan, and to submit through the chain of command.
3. The Wg plans were then rolled up into the Air Force Three Year Employment Equity Action Plan. Before the plan was sent to the CAS, feedback was requested from UNDE and the Advisory Groups and some minor changes were made to the plan. A copy of the Air Force plan and report is enclosed.
4. The Employment Equity Act legislates the requirement for monitoring achievements in the EE Plans and adjusting the plan accordingly. The initial monitoring of local plans and the Air Force plan will be completed by 30 Jun and information on this process will be provided in the next EE report to the LMRC.
