OFFICE OF PRIMARY INTEREST (OPI)

TERMS OF REFERENCE

OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE

The Union of National Defence Employees (UNDE) has established an UNDE EAP OPI to be the representative of UNDE with the Department of National Defence (DND) in the Joint DND/Labour- sponsored Employee Assistance Program.

The DND and the labour unions established the EAP jointly because they consider it their duty to assist employees / members struggling with personal problems.

SELECTION OF THE UNDE EAP OPI

The selection and appointment of the UNDE EAP OPI is the responsibility of the UNDE National President and the UNDE National Executive Committee (NEC).

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE UNDE EAP OPI

The roles and responsibilities of the UNDE EAP OPI include:

• Will be the UNDE National representative on the National Employee Assistance Program Advisory Committee (N EAP AC).
• Will be the contact person for UNDE with DND on all national EAP issues.
• Will be the national spokesperson for UNDE on EAP Issues.
• May be a Union Facilitator on National EAP Training.
• Will be the liaison with the UNDE EAP Liaison Officers in the regions.
• Will be the UNDE representative on all EAP Committees established by DND dealing with national EAP issues.
• Will liaison with the UNDE EAP Resource Officer to ensure that all National Officers and members are kept informed on EAP issues.
