National GS Committee - Minutes of Meeting

The harassment policy was read.

A question was brought to the floor on what the “role of OPI” should consist of. As a committee we agreed upon:

    - Chairperson
    - Following committees direction
    - Go between political (UNDE) and reporting to National Executive
    - Assigning tasks outside of committee
    - Facilitating (CO)

Action Plan Items

  • To get a % of GS reps on the Bargaining Committee/ bargaining demands
  • By putting bargaining input in place (focused demands and nationally demanded)
  • Communicating with V.P’s/ Regional councils to get GS members on those committees.
  • Finding out how resolutions get to PSAC
  • If through UNDE have a GS Rep involved

Communications Strategy

  • Producing a poster (300) large poster, (300) small posters, (2000) post cards, (10,000) stickers the same as posters.

  • Carla Van Dyk and Barbara Bailey will write a letter to all the GS or equivalent members and their local executives.

Education Strategy

  • Developing a training /briefing package with the 10 outlines (1 page briefing notes in accordion file).
    Adding presentation to an LMRC / UMCC, and by ensuring regions are notified of new facilitations.

  • Conduct a grievance strategy for zones
    - Wording of grievance
    - Getting legal opinion
  • There will be an increase in Military Personnel in the following areas:
    - CFB Petawawa
    - CFB Goose Bay
    - CFB Bagotville
    - CFB Wainwright
    - CFB Chilliwack
    - CFB Trenton
    These will be discussed in the future on how they will be targeted by the National GS Committee.

Our next meeting will be at the end of June if required, other wise a conference call will suffice.

Possible meeting in October 2006.
