HISTORY OF REGIONAL RATES OF PAY

WHEN?

introduced in 1967
federal government and its employees came to an agreement that there should be regional rates of pay

WHY?

WHAT ABOUT NOW?

there has been some success as a result of the collective bargaining process introduced in 1967, the table shows how zones have been reduced at previous rounds of bargaining.

CONSIDER THESE POINTS:

Why are not all Tables within PSAC governed by regional rates of pay?
Why are not all groups within Table 2 governed by regional rates of pay?
Do you think our elected MPs would stand for their salaries being based on where their constituency was regionally located?
Table 2 Prairies, by in large, remain poor cousins in zones
89% of Table 2 is not in the highest zone
members, for the most part, have not seen an increase from the elimination of the zones since 2001
of the 400,000 people employed by the federal government (including MPs, Senators, Canadian Forces, RCMP, etc.) this group is under regional rates of pay, while the rest is not
this group represents 8,400 employees, or 2% of the 400,000
